TrustistEcommerce WordPress Plugin Documentation

The TrustistEcommerce WordPress plugin lets you take payments through your WordPress website using TrustistEcommerce.

It can be used with WooCommerce and Gravity Forms, and supports Open Banking payments in the UK. Card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay can also be available if they are enabled on your account.

Before You Start

You will need:

  • An active TrustistTransfer account
  • Your business onboarding completed and approved
  • Access to your WordPress admin dashboard
  • Permission to install and activate WordPress plugins
  • Your TrustistEcommerce API keys

If you do not have your API keys, contact TrustistTransfer support:

What the Plugin Does

The plugin connects your WordPress website to TrustistEcommerce so you can take payments online.

It is mainly used with:

  • WooCommerce
  • Gravity Forms

The plugin handles the connection to TrustistEcommerce. Your website can then send customers to the correct payment flow when they pay.

Installing the Plugin

  1. Sign in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Go to Plugins.

  3. Select Add New.

  4. Either search for TrustistEcommerce, or upload the plugin ZIP file if you have been given one.

  5. Select Install Now.

  6. Once the plugin has installed, select Activate.

If the button says Deactivate, the plugin is already active.

Opening the Plugin Settings

After the plugin has been activated:

  1. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select TrustistEcommerce.

This opens the TrustistEcommerce settings page.

Adding Your API Keys

The settings page has sections for your API keys.

You may see fields for:

  • Live Public Key
  • Live Private Key
  • Sandbox Public Key
  • Sandbox Private Key

Live API Keys

Live API keys are used for real payments.

Only add your live keys when you are ready for customers to make real payments through your website.

Sandbox API Keys

Sandbox API keys are used for testing.

Use sandbox keys when you want to check that the plugin is working without taking real customer payments.

This is useful before putting the payment form or checkout live.

Saving and Testing the Connection

After entering your API keys:

  1. Check that each key has been pasted into the correct field.

  2. Select Save Changes & Test Connection.

  3. Wait for the plugin to check the connection.

If the connection is successful, the plugin will show information about the connected merchant account.

This can include:

  • Connection status
  • Merchant name
  • When the connection was last checked
  • Whether card payments are enabled
  • Whether standing orders are enabled

If the Connection Fails

If the connection fails:

  1. Check that the API keys have been copied correctly.

  2. Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the keys.

  3. Check that live keys have not been entered into the sandbox fields, or sandbox keys into the live fields.

  4. Save and test the connection again.

If the connection still fails, contact TrustistTransfer support.

Keeping Your API Keys Safe

Your private API keys should be treated like passwords.

Do not:

  • Share them publicly
  • Add them to a public page
  • Send them to customers
  • Put them in screenshots unless they are hidden

Only give API keys to trusted people who manage your website or payment setup.

Setting Up Payments

Once the plugin is connected successfully, you can set up payments through WooCommerce or Gravity Forms.

Use the correct guide for the tool you are using:

  • WooCommerce: https://trustisttransfer.com/docs/configuring-the-trustistecommerce-payment-gateway-for-woocommerce/
  • Gravity Forms: https://trustisttransfer.com/docs/trustistecommerce-for-gravityforms-payment-gateway-configuration/

Testing Before Going Live

Before taking live payments, test the setup using your sandbox API keys.

You should check that:

  • The payment option appears where expected
  • The customer can start the payment
  • The payment page opens correctly
  • The order or form behaves as expected after payment
  • Failed or cancelled payments are handled correctly

Once testing is complete, replace the sandbox keys with your live API keys and test the live connection.

Updating API Keys

If your API keys are changed or replaced:

  1. Go to Settings in WordPress.

  2. Select TrustistEcommerce.

  3. Replace the old keys with the new keys.

  4. Select Save Changes & Test Connection.

  5. Check that the connection status is successful.

Logs and Troubleshooting

The plugin can log important events and errors to help with troubleshooting.

If something is not working correctly, your website developer or hosting provider may be able to check the WordPress or server logs.

These logs can help identify issues such as:

  • Incorrect API keys
  • Failed connection attempts
  • Payment setup problems
  • Website or plugin conflicts
